Black Seed wins 2007 Battle of the Bands
competition
Black Seed, a four-person band out of Marquette, captured first place in the
eighth annual Battle of the Bands competition put on by the Negaunee Irontown
Association. Black Seed was the recipient of the $500 first-place prize. In
the photo, lead singer Josh Reinaas, front center, and guitarist Rory Wills
proudly hold the winning check. Also pictured, from left, are Battle of the
Bands committee members Kristie Patron and Lisa Wetton, bass player Joe
L’Huillier of Black Seed, and BOB committee member Jim LaJoie. Missing from
the photo is drummer Dylan Hendrix.
The musical event coincides
with the annual Pioneer Days Community Picnic that takes place adjacent to
Teal Lake. The winner receives a $500 cash prize, based on a panel of three
judges who will score the bands on five criteria. Bands are accepted on a
first-come basis, pending approval of their demo CD for appropriateness for
the family-friendly event.
Battle of the Bands
T-shirts are sold at the competition. The shirts are $8 apiece for small
through XL, and $10 for XXL.
